Growing up in Minnesota, you learn quickly to make the most of spring/summer weather. Translation: spend as much time outdoors before it's gone… And also, spring starts the moment it hits 50 degrees.

A mild April quickly prompted us to dust off the patio furniture even earlier than normal (no complaints here!). With buds already popping up on trees, spring fever is in the air and I’m itching to be on a patio once again.

With that said, brutal Minnesota winters often leave patios feeling neglected and lack luster come spring. Most homeowners feel their outdoor space could use a little refresh, yet also fear it’s a timely project. I'm here to tell you your patio doesn't always require a complete overhaul to become a personal oasis. A makeover doesn't have to be a face lift. The difference is in the details. Small pieces can have a big impact. Start with a few small additions and go from there: a natural rug, a few sleek planters, and outdoor pillows can instantly transform a space.

Of course, functionality is key. And in case you haven't noticed, I am loving the rattan trend right now (with a modern twist!).
